Zoo Adventures

Kevin decided to take Friday, April 29th off from work. We had some cooler weather, especially at night. Late Thursday I suggested that we put off all our to-dos until Saturday and head to the zoo after breakfast. The girls had a great time when Nana came with us a few weeks back (not sure I ever posted that - yes, there are some holes and important events missing). Anyway, we had a terrific adventure. We experienced so many new things on this fourth trip to the zoo.

The highlight was feeding the giraffes. We paid $5 for three pieces of lettuce - very expensive according to my grandma, but worth every penny. Mostly because that bought us an opportunity to get up close to the giraffes and a guy used our camera to take pictures.

As you can see, Kevin really enjoyed himself! BTW in case you didn't know giraffe tongues can be up to 18 inches in length!! Maddie wasn't sure what to think of all this, especially when the giraffe nudged her. They are extremely gentle and friendly animals.

We also rode the carousal! I picked a lion for Maddie.

There was an elephant nearby for Allie. Not easy to get a picture - as we moved up and down and around!

To add to our adventure we went to the children's petting zoo! The girls pet goats. Then I thoroughly cleaned their hands - twice!

The highlight of the day for Allie wasn't the animals, but the opportunity to walk.

She loved to walk all by herself, along the many winding paths. Check out that smile!!!
