One Starry Night - Candy Cane Lane

Finally taking the time to make a few quick Christmas posts....

One of the annual highlights of our Christmas season is Candy Cane Lane at our church, Houston's First Baptist.  And at that event, the girls love One Starry Night, which is the journey to Bethlehem. 

Here are the girls using their coins in the village along the way to purchase things.

In this room, they meet the shepherds who tell them to follow the start to Bethlehem.

Here is the star (at the top of the gym roof.)

We finally make it to Bethlehem and find Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus.

They have other activities like bread baking and carpentry.  Here Maddie is making a stool.

One of Allie's favorite things is the crafts.  In the past we have made crafts along our journey to Bethlehem.  However, in order to speed things along and allow more folks to journey, there is now a craft room.

We made several different ornaments and pipe cleaner creations.

Allie could have stayed here all night!

However, Maddie wanted to go back on the journey to Bethlehem.  She waited at the entrance and played with the goats.  

And the donkey.Then once everyone else had their turn, asked if we could go again.....

This time we spent a little time with the Wise Men who also told us to follow the star.

We asked Mr. Chad the children's minister if the girls could hold Baby Jesus like they have always had an opportunity to in the past.  Word got through to Mary so the girls got to hold Baby Jesus!

And that sure did make them happy!

We had a terrific evening and had two very happy girls!
