We took a day trip to Galveston. So Sammie could experience the Gulf for the first time. It was actually Allie and Maddie's first visit too. We decided on Stewart Beach so we could have showers and real bathrooms with running water. It was $8 a car so not bad at all. Although I was a little disappointed that for my $8 they couldn't even provide soap in the bathrooms. Also it would have been nice if they picked up the sea weed occasionally.
Regardless we had a great time. Thankfully my sweet friend Theresa lent me her umbrella, otherwise we would have been burnt to a crisp.

She wasn't a big fan of the waves though. It was surprisingly very warm, considering it was only May. By August it must be hot!
Kevin took each of the girls out in the water.
However, they really enjoyed the sand. Building drip castles with Aunt Sue, getting buried,
Laying down and rolling around,
Smearing sand on their shirts, face, everywhere. And it turns out it was the stickiest sand. I washed and soaked and double rinsed and it was still stuck on clothes and in our towels.
At first Maddie didn't want to go in the water without you holding her hand. But by the end she would run down into the waves knee deep by herself. She loved it!!
