Kevin and I desire to teach Allison and Madeline about Jesus and Christmas is the perfect time to do that. We want our focus to be on Christ not materialism.
This year we attended Candy Cane lane at our church, Houston's First Baptist. It will definitely become one of our annual family traditions. There were so many activities at Candy Cane Lane, but the main focus was on Jesus.
First, we started out with a family picture. It is always nice to have all four of us in a picture and everyone is actually looking at the camera. : )
Then we decorated ornaments and cookies. The girls had their first iced sugar cookie. They really enjoyed it!
Next we went on a recreated journey to Bethlehem. The girl were given little bags of coins so they would have money to spend at the market. Maddie was happy to shop!
We colored a nativity scene.
Before we met King Herod, we made crowns. The girls enjoyed decorating their crowns with jewels.
They enjoyed wearing their crowns even more. Here are some of the wonderful volunteers who made this day happen. (Allie and Maddie have been wearing their crowns around the house for the last week. They both can say queen and crown very well.)
The highlight of the day was when we met Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus!
And Mary even let Maddie and Allie hold her Precious Jesus. They were so gentle and so excited!
Allie enjoyed petting the sheep, goat, and donkey. Maddie liked the idea of it, but when it came down to it wasn't so excited after all.
We concluded our morning with a puppet show and smiles!
There were other things at Candy Cane Lane - including food, bounce houses, etc but we had already had a full morning. Wonderful job HFBC!
